As we close out 2012 and look ahead to 2013, it is important to know what to look for in the coming year when it comes to computer security threats. Computer security firm McAfee released their new list of top threats for 2013 and they were covered in a recent article by CNET News. These threats include new threats to mobile devices, the availability of “ransomware kits”, and attacks focused on new platforms such as Windows 8 and HTML 5. They also suggest there will be an increase in the rise of large-scale cyber attacks, targeted “showshoe” SPAM attacks, hacking as a service, and the rise in extreme hacktivism.
