hate to toot our own horn, but we think Career Step has one of the best referral programs around. When someone you refer ends up enrolling, you can make anywhere from $100 to $250 per person! (See our Referral Program Basics blog post for more information on the payment tiers.) But how do you refer someone? Here are a 5 things you can do to get started!
1. Know your Referral Information
When you enrolled with Career Step, you received an email containing your referrer ID and referral webpage information. This information is unique to you. If anyone requests information from your webpage, you will automatically be listed as their referrer, and you will be eligible for the bonus if they enroll. If you did not receive your referral information, or if you’ve misplaced it, send an email to email@example.com and we will be happy to look it up for you!
2. Talk to Friends and Family
One of the most effective ways to get referrals is to talk to your friends and family. Tell them about Career Step’s training, why you choose it, and how it has impacted your life. Chances are they will see what a difference it has made in your life and will want to make a change for themselves!
3. Talk to Strangers
Ignore your mother’s advice and talk to strangers! Whether you’re running errands or just commuting on the train to work, you’ll find lots of opportunities to talk to those around you. For example, if the cashier at the grocery store makes a comment that you must be off work to be able to go shopping in the middle of the day, that’s your opening! You can tell her all about working from home as a medical transcriptionist and how you can set your own schedule.
Still not sure what to say about Career Step? Check out our “Who’s Who of Career Step Students” referral blog series for some great talking points on why Career Step might be the right choice for high school seniors, new moms, military spouses, college students, career changers, working moms, and retirees.
4. Give Away Business Cards
Not everyone you talk to will remember your information (especially if it is someone you talked to in passing at a party). You should consider making business cards with your referrer information on it that you can give to those who are interested. We have this great template you can use and print out at home, or you can have something professional made from a host of sites on the internet. Either way, business cards are a wonderful way to get your referral information in the hands of those who might be interested in Career Step.
5. Share on Social Media
Sharing your referral webpage on social media is one of the easiest ways to increase your referrals. Although it can vary by the type of social media you use, all you need to do is copy and paste your referral link along with your story. Below are links to blog posts with helpful hints on how to increase your referrals using some of the more popular social media platforms. If there is one you are using, and you want help figuring out how to refer using it, just let us know!
