Last month’s “Who’s Who” focused on why Career Step is the perfect choice for military spouses. This month we are focusing on what you can do to increase your referrals within the military community.
Social media is a powerful tool when it comes to getting more referrals, which is why we post a new idea on how to get more referrals using Facebook every other week. In each post we include a suggestion on what to post if you are a military spouse.
We also have several Facebooking for Referrals posts specifically devoted to the military community, including Military Referrals, MyCAA Video and MyCAA Myths eBook. You can post these ideas on your own Facebook page or any military groups you belong to. Just make sure you read the “rules of engagement” for that particular group to make sure you’re not in violation.
If you live in a military community there are tons of opportunities to spread the word at the various functions you’re required to attend. If someone asks what you do, tell them about your training with Career Step and how it has impacted your life. Chances are they are in a similar situation and will be interested in going back to school as well. Always carry around a business card with your referral website on it that you can hand out to those who are interested. You can use our referral business card template or create one from the various business card companies online.
There are lots of options when it comes to advertising. You can take out a print or classified ad in your local paper or base newsletter. There are also many yard sales or classified website sites specific to the military. We also have a military spouse flier you can post on community boards. And if you have your own blog or website, you can use one of our military ads in the Referral Resource Center to direct people to your referral webpage.
These are just a few of our ideas on how to increase your referrals within military community, but we’d love to hear what works for you! Share your ideas in the comments section below.
